White Sea: Its Marine Environment And Ecosystem Dynamics Influenced By Global Change

White Sea: Its Marine Environment And Ecosystem Dynamics Influenced By Global Change
de Nikolai Filatov, Dmitry Pozdnyakov, Ola M. Johannessen, Lasse H. Pette (Ed. Springer-Verlag Berlin and Heidelberg GmbH & Co. K) Isbn : 3540205411
213.57 €
This unique book written by Russian and Norwegian scientists is an analysis of studies based on extensive data analysis and numerical modelling simulations of the White Sea and provides a quantitative assessment of vulnerability of the White Sea marine ecosystems of future anthropogenic and, to some extent, climate change forcing. The authors address a wide range of issues, including geographical position and the paleogeological background of the White Sea Basin. They provide the most recent data on the White Sea bathymetry, examine the White Sea ecosystem profile, and provide extensive historical marine and riverine data records. An integrated assessment of the state of the ecology, vulnerability and sustainability of The White Sea is presented. They look specifically at the applications of satellite Earth observation (remote sensing) oceanographic investigations into changes in regional physical oceanography and ecology, provide extensive coverage of the problems of multi-faceted data assimilation in ocean modelling and conclude with a look at the present state-of-the-art and future developments in this area of nature conservation.

Water in Confining Geometries

Water in Confining Geometries
de V. Buch, J. P. Devlin (Ed. Springer-Verlag Berlin and Heidelberg GmbH & Co. K) Isbn : 3540004114
157.36 €
Written by leading experts in the field, this book gives a wide-ranging and coherent treatment of water in confining geometries. This includes water in clusters, particles, films, and at surfaces and interfaces. The topics covered range from the molecular to condensed phases and involve both liquid and solid phases. Emphasis is on systems for which the extent of water is limited so that the surface/interface of the water may be critical to the properties of the system. The main sections include: theoretical studies of intermolecular interactions; neutral and ionic water clusters; solid and liquid water surfaces and interfaces; amorphous ice layers; ice and water particles; water in bio-systems; and atmospheric water.

Encyclopedia of Hydrological Sciences

Encyclopedia of Hydrological Sciences
