Comment : This is a field-guide type painting of the Ringed Kingfisher, the largest species (41 cm) found in the western hemisphere. It has a huge range, from Mexico, as far north as extreme southern Texas, south into southern Sough America. It is a year-round resident on Dominica and Martinique, in the West Indies. This is gouache watercolour on illustration board, approximately life size. The male is in front, the female behind. Le martin-pêcheur à ventre roux est le plus grand alcédinidé de l' hémisphère occidental (41 cm). Son vaste territoire s'étend du Nord du Mexique, aussi haut que la lisière sud du Texas, jusqu'en Amérique du sud.
