Tiny Hawk - Microspizias superciliosus

Épervier nain

Tiny Hawk
The Tiny Hawk is one of the smallest of the Accipiters, and ranges from Nicaragua south to Bolivia, Paraguay and northern Argentina. My little portrait shows the northern form, from Costa Rica. Southern birds are assigned the nominate race. They only weigh from about 75 grams (male) to 134 grams (female). While little is known about their diet, it seems they specialize on eating hummingbirds!
