Amazone d'Hispaniola
Comment : An endemic of Hispaniola, found in a variety of forest types to quite high elevations. Like many Amazona species, its population is declining due to removal of young birds from nests for the pet trade. The LPF supports a project in the Dominican Republic by the Hispaniolan Ornithological Society to protect this Amazona and the endemic Hispaniolan Conure Aratinga chloroptera.
Cest une espèce endémique d'Hispaniola, que l'on trouve dans divers types de forêts jusqu'à des altitudes vraiment importantes. Comme beaucoup d'espèces d'Amazones, ses populations sont en train de décliner à cause de l'enlèvement des jeunes oiseaux au nid pour le commerce des animaux domestiques. La LPF soutient un projet en République Dominicaine par l'intermédiaire de l'Hispaniolan Ornithological Society pour protéger cette Amazona ainsi que l'endémique Conure maîtresse Aratinga chloroptera.
