Why this website ?
The purpose of the website oiseaux.net, managed by the French society "Ecopains d'abord"(that means "Friends first"), is to share passion for birds and nature generally.
"To share knowledge, to bring up a new look, to modify behaviours facing the Nature.", that is the ambition of this portal and avifauna encyclopaedic guide.
The website is managed by voluntary ornithologist or naturalists, contributing to its enrichment, and implicated themselves in eco-citizen reasoning.

History
In December 1995, Didier Collin, impassioned by computer science and very close to Nature, makes his first steps on Internet, and decides to set up the Website "Les Oiseaux du Moulin" (that means "mill's birds").
It starts and the author describes the Lorraine's birds through Identification Records.
The Website "Les hirondelles" ("the Swallows") is born from his meeting with Jean Charennat, impassioned by Nature too, in collaboration with the LPO MOSELLE GROUP. (LPO means "bird's protection League"); Lorraine and Moselle are areas in East of France.
With help from those who have contributed to its enrichment, "oiseaux.net" is today successful and recognized. Since its creation, the website got an ornithological directory, a books selection about Nature, and it allows having an access to the integral version of the bird's natural story, from Buffon. (French naturalist-1707/1788)
In 2003, this project has increased in such proportion that creation of "Ecopains d'abord" society became necessary. It was being possible thanks to numerous people adhering to this adventure. Society's purposes are to promote, to develop and to increase the image of ecology and cultural patrimony of the area.
Society also wishes to act for a better appreciation of biodiversity, and to help on Nature protection.

And tomorrow ...
Website attendance has such increased, that we had to rent an Internet server. This investment will allow to make the website more pleasant and interactive, but also to house others websites in harmony with Nature (today LPO Moselle website and Ypix).
Our purposes are to enrich contents with pictures and identification records about birds. Didactic games. Placing an activity schedule combining Nature discovery and cultural public demonstration. Opening towards schools. Creation of pedagogical identification records for kids.
