This parakeet was recently discovered in Colombia, and here is one of the first pictures of this beautiful species, taken in the Reserva Natural de las Aves Hormiguero de Torcoroma. It is threatened by habitat loss due to deforestation in humid forest. Fundación ProAves, with help of Loro Parque Fundación, is going to try to protect this endangered species, through the protection of its habitat.
Cette conure a été découverte récemment en Colombie, et voici l'une des premières photos de cette belle espèce, prise dans la Reserva Natural de las Aves Hormiguero de Torcoroma. Elle est menacée par la perte de son habitat, à cause de la déforestation dans les forêts humides. La Fondation ProAves, avec l'aide de la Fondation Loro Parque, va tenter de protéger cette espèce en danger à travers la protection de son habitat.

Great success! The populations of this species are now increasing. In Tolima, more than 50 nests were active in 2007, with 132 chicks in May-June. This success is due to the increasing number of cavities in dead Wax Palm trees, thanks to the recuperation of the habitat and reforestation. The species seems to explore new areas. Grand succès! Les populations de cette espèce sont en train d'augmenter. A Tolima, plus de 50 nids étaient actifs en 2007, avec 132 poussins en Mai-Juin. Ce succès est dû au nombre croissant de cavités dans les palmiers à cire morts, grâce à la récupération de l'habitat et à la reforestation.
