Scientists only discovered where it lived in 1992, and it was immediately classified as Critically Endangered. Since 1995, the Armonía/Loro Parque Fundación Blue-throated Macaw Conservation Programme has been active in the seasonally flooded plains of Beni, Bolivia. From perhaps less than 50 birds in 2000, the population has increased to reach up to 350 by the end of 2007.
Les scientifiques ont découvert où il vivait en 1992 seulement, et il a été immédiatement classé comme espèce en Danger Critique d'extinction. Depuis 1995, le programme de conservation de l'Ara bleu Armonía – Loro Parque Fundación, a été actif dans les plaines saisonnièrement inondées de Beni en Bolivie. De peut-être moins de 50 oiseaux en 2000, la population a augmenté pour atteindre jusqu'à 350 individus fin 2007.
