Lethaba camp in Kruger National park during December 2003. Nocturnal, they live in thorn field habitat along dry riverbeds, where the cryptic colouring makes them nearly impossible to find. They feed on insects, small birds, mammals and reptiles. Oiseau nocturne vivant dans des plaines d'épineux près de cours d'eau asséchés. Son plumage se confond avec l'environnement, ce qui en fait un oiseau pratiquement impossible à repérer. Se nourrit d'insectes, de petits oiseaux, de reptiles et de mammifères.
