Locally common, this species lives in woodlands, riverine forests, thickets and gardens in semi-arid savannahs. They feed on grass seeds, grains and other vegetation. Localement commune, cette espèce vit dans les zones boisées, les forêts riveraines, les bosquets et les jardins dans les savanes semi-arides. Ces oiseaux se nourrissent de graines d'herbes, et d'autres matières végétales.
