Blue-backed Manakin male, adult, breeding — These amazing wee birds dance at a lek which is owned by the senior male. The younger males at the lek dance cooperatively with him but only he mates with the females. The younger males serve apprenticeships & may one day inherit the old man's lek & dominance.
