Martinet à collier roux mâle adulte nuptial, identification
An uncommon swift of humid montane primary forest high quality secondary forest. It tends to feed at higher levels than many other swifts.
The nest is built on a vertical face always in a damp shady place usually near water. The nest is made of mud, saliva plant debris. In Trinidad these birds breed between may august, two broods per season being common. Two eggs are usually laid.
The photograph shows a male bird (females lack the chestnut collar) which was nesting above the entrance to Dunstan Cave in the grounds of the Asa Wright Nature Centre.
