This male is in eclipse plumage. They live in grasslands and mountains scrub, from sea level to 3500 metres. They feed on nectar from flowers and a wide variety of insects caught in mid-air. Ce mâle est non nicheur. Ils vivent dans les zones herbeuses et dans les broussailles en montagne, depuis le niveau de la mer jusqu' 3500 mètres. Ils se nourrissent de nectar de fleurs et d'une vaste variété d'insectes attrapés en vol.
