Woodland Kingfisher adult
Race cyanoleuca, with black eye-stripe extending behind the eye. They live in wooded habitats, especially Acacias, but also around human habitations. They prefer drier habitats and can be found far from water. They feed mainly on large insects, snakes, fish and frogs. They are summer visitors, and have a shrill, penetrating up and down whistle like call.

Race cyanoleuca, avec la ligne oculaire noire qui s'étend jusque derrière l'oeil. Ils vivent dans les zones boisées, surtout avec des acacias, mais aussi autour des habitations. Ils préfèrent des habitats plus secs et peuvent se trouver loin de l'eau. Ils se nourrissent surtout de grands insectes, de serpents, de poisson et de grenouilles. Ce sont des visiteurs d'été. Ils ont pour cri un sifflement aigu et pénétrant, montant et descendant.
